Durood upon the prophet 1

From now on I will make regular, if possible daily durood upon the prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم.

What is “durood”?

Durood is the Islamic practice of asking Allah to send peace and prayers upon the holy prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم.

The prophet is in no need of this as through the hard work he put in, the blood he shed, the tears that came forth from his eyes and the efforts which he exerted he is the beloved of Allah.

Love, the mother of all emotions.

Love is one of, if not the most powerful of all emotions. From it emanates warmth, radiance, passion manifesting itself in actions which at times result in a blessed union of a man and woman having a child and giving existence to a human being. It is an emotion that many crave, that many yearn for, others feel that they are denied a true form of love. It is the emotion for which many is the very centre of their lives and the pursuit of which is an elusive, painful journey with the hope that one day they can attain true love. However the greatest love of all is the love of the All-Powerful, the All-mighty, the one who is capable of all and can bestow to any supplicant any request of theirs.

He, Allah, is the greatest, and is greater than great. “Greatness” itself is something relative and is based on comparing, while He Himself is beyond comparison, beyond the finite borders of “greatness”. However just as His power is the greatest, his knowledge is the greatest, thus also His love is the greatest.

So whom does He, the King of kings, the Emperor of Emperors, the Lord of lords, the One and only love?

Who or what is the recipient of the love of the Almighty, the creator of the entire universe and that beyond?

The answer is the man known to humanity as the prophet who was sent the Quran, the prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم who told his people to worship the Creator alone and none besides him, to love their parents, to help the orphans, to aid the needy, to adhere to truthfulness in the market, to  not lie, to not cheat, the man whom the world knows as Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم.

durood1

Allah said in his revelation to mankind, when He the Lord of lords, the King of Kings, the Emperor of emperors rather than not communicating with the weak and limited entity we know as the human race – rather than being like the monarchs of this world who seek not to address those not as high as them, when He instead chose to speak to us –  the following verses:

Indeed, Allah and His Angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who believe! Send blessings on him and greet him (with) greetings. (Quran, Surah: 33, verse: 56)

Thus this is an action which He, the Almighty Himself does and has allowed us to emulate Him in doing. We are not capable of doing many things which He alone Himself is doing, but we are capable of doing this.

So my Muslim brothers and sisters please be profuse and abundant in sending peace and prayers upon our noble prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم.

All praise be to Allah the lord of the worlds and the master of existence. Peace and prayers be upon our noble prophet and upon his noble family and companions and his ummah (Islamic nation) and his brothers, the Anbiya (the prophets) and upon their followers. Peace be upon them all and may Allah make us all love our holy prophet and make us others love him. The one who does not love the prophet is not part of the ultimate love, the greatest love, the love of the Creator of the universe for the best of the creation, the beloved of Allah, Muhammad ibn Abdullah.

Peace be upon our noble prophet, the kind, soft, warm-hearted man inclined to mercy and forgiveness, the one who did not look at people’s forms and appearances, the one for whom the internal character of a person was much more important.

Peace be upon him and let us make durood for him day and night, every hour of the day and make others too love him and send peace and prayers upon him.

Ameen, thumma Ameen.

Loving the prophet Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم , part 1

To love is to be happy, to be content. For love is to be pleased with something, something which gives us happiness. To love is to be healthy, for happiness gives us health whilst sadness and anger give us pain which causes illness. Love is the emotion which has made us who we are, for it was our mothers and our fathers who loved us. Who loved us so much that they made many sacrifices to raise us. Love is beauty. Love is a beautiful emotion, which beautifies human relations. One should always love. One should not hate unless that which is hated deserves to be hated. However ones heart in essence should be a heart which is filled with love, filled with happiness, filled with compassion. We love many things. Just as we love so does the One who created us, the supreme ruler of the heavens and the earth, the entire universe. In existence there are but two. The first. There is the creator, glory be to Him. The creator, the king of the universe has always been and will always be. He is the reality. There was nothing before Him. There is nothing independent of Him. He is the reality. Then the second of these two is that which the creator has created that is everything else besides Him. The creation.   Just as we love so does the One who created us. Who created the very act of love and love itself.   Besides Him there is nothing else besides creation, and besides creation there is nothing else but Him. So from this creation whom or what does He love? Does He love the Sun and the Moon before all else which are nought but glorified rocks or balls? Does He love atoms before all else? He loves the best of creation. The best of creation, صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم, is the one who unlike the Sun can choose to do right or wrong, a being صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم with emotions, with feelings, with pain, with joy, with needs. So who is this one who is the best of creation and the blessed recipient of immense divine love? This one is none other then the noble messenger, the best of creation, the most noble of creatures, Muhammad ibn Abdullah صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم.  muhammad-pbuh-calligraphyIs to love wrong? No, but to love is right. To love is noble. We should love. We must love. We cannot choose not to love. To love is to survive. A man who lives and does not love but bears emptiness or just hate is not living. This is not a true life. Life without love is not life. The love of the Creator is majestic and beyond comparison. His greatness is infinite. His love cannot be compared to our love, for He is the incomparable, the supreme, the majestic, the ultimate One. So how then if we love and He, the Almighty loves can we understand the magnitude of the Creator’s love? We can never come close to the love the creator has for His most beloved, the best of creation, the noble Messenger and mercy to the worlds, Muhammad صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم. However though our love is nothing compared to the immense and vast love of the Creator for His beloved Messenger we have been told to love the noble Messenger, صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم.
