5 rules for a happier life

Jum’ah Mubarak

May all my readers have a Juma’ah Mubarak (a blessed Friday). In Islam a new day starts from the sunset, so Thursday night is considered the beginning of Friday or “Yawm ul Jum’ah” (Friday, or precisely the day of gathering).

Thursday night (Friday night Islamically) is a blessed night when, it is said, our deeds are taken up to heaven and seen by Allah.

It is a holy and blessed night, whereupon Muslims are encouraged to engage in worship and good deeds.

Let us all reflect on how the past week since the Friday gone has transpired, what we have done, what we have not done from those things which we should carried out. Let us resolve to improve ourselves.

I would like to wish all my readers a happy Friday, Jum’ah Mubarak!

Jum’ah Mubarak

Asalamu ‘alaikum to all Muslim brothers and sisters, and a warm greeting to all readers from wherever you may be, from which part of the earth, of whatever colour, creed, rich or poor, young or old.

I wish to say “Asalamu ‘alaikum” to Muslims on this day.  “Asalamu”, or “salam” means peace and “alaikum”, means upon you (plural). So peace be upon to you.

Tonight is the holy and blessed day of Jum’ah or Friday night. In the religion of Islam each new day commences from sunset or “Maghrib”, thus what we know as Thursday sunset is actually the beginning of a new day Islamically, that is Friday night or in Arabic “lailatul jum’ah”, the night of Friday.

May all of us ask Allah to send peace (salaam) and prayers (salawaat) upon our holy prophet in abundance. Tonight I myself intend to do this act of asking Allah the most high to shower peace and prayers upon the prophet  صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم , two thousand times. Not because I am amongst the pious far from it for I am a sinner, but because Allah has commanded us to love his noble prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم and to love him earns the pleasure of Allah ta’ala (the most high).

May you all have a good and blessed Friday night (western calendar Thursday night) and Friday.

  • May Allah accept your du’as (supplications).
  • May Allah give you and your families and beloved ones happiness.
  • May Allah increase you and your families and beloved ones in Imaan (faith).
  • May Allah increase you and your families and beloved ones in health.
  • May Allah bless the holy prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم

Peace be upon you all and please read Quran and do durood (prayers upon the prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم) in abundance.

May Allah make us from those who brighten others.

Remember your creator.

True happiness can never be attained by seeking the fulfillment of all of your sensual desires or stimulating the five senses. True happiness is only ever spiritual and emotional. After a certain age, a young adult has experienced all the material pleasures of life that the world (the dunya) has to offer them and has hit a metaphorical ceiling or dead end. For many, in the absence of true knowledge of the nature of life and the world, they are confused. Acutely aware that there is a void, something missing, but not quite sure what it is.

The answer is the remembrance of the one for whom you owe your very existence to. The one whom if He had decided not to give you existence, not to allow you to be conceived, to be born and to live beyond a very young age you would not be here today. Remember your lord, the merciful and compassionate one who overlooks your (and my) many sins and your complete lack of remembrance of him.

Depression is endemic now in the industrialized world. Partly symptomatic of an increasingly more materialistic, superficial and busier life, where people have more cold hard electronic gadgets but less real warm soft emotional bonds and friendship.

Happiness lies in remembering your creator, thanking him, worshipping him and also in helping the creation, those who are less fortunate than you, those who are suffering or in pain. Worship Allah and help others.

Bright field.

Bright fields illuminated by a bright sunny day with some of the fields looking almost golden.

The beauty of Allah’s creation.
